The vision of Working Wonders Starting Home (WWSH) is to create a thriving and inclusive Brooklyn community where children, parents, and families are empowered to reach their fullest potential. We envision a world where every individual—regardless of ability, background, or circumstance—has access to quality education, mental health support, sports programs, and opportunities for personal and professional growth. Through engagement, collaboration, and holistic development, WWSH inspires a future where all community members lead healthy, fulfilling, and purposeful lives.
Working Wonders Starting home
Working Wonders Starting Home (WWSH) is a Brooklyn-based nonprofit organization dedicated to uplifting youth and families through innovative programming. We provide educational enrichment, competitive sports, and holistic youth development opportunities that empower young people to reach their fullest potential.
Our programs include:
- Competitive Basketball - Brooklyn's first fully-integrated adaptive sports program, serving 75 youth ages 7-17 with professional coaching and wheelchair basketball integration
- Chess Education - Strategic thinking and competition for elementary students
- Youth Mentorship - Positive role models and guidance for personal growth
- Parent Engagement - Family workshops on nutrition, youth development, and college preparation
All programs are FREE to families, made possible through grants from NYC Department of Youth & Community Development and community partnerships. We believe every child—regardless of ability, background, or circumstance—deserves opportunities to thrive
