In
the Fall of 2006 the Community Task Force on NYU Development
was initiated and soon overseen by Manhattan Borough
President Scott Stringer who secured the participation of
New York University President John Sexton as well as City,
State and Federal stakeholders toward a major city-wide
planning initiative. By January 2008, the Task Force
and New York University adopted Guiding Principals for
expansion planning that were also approved by Manhattan
Community Boards 2 and 3.
The goal of this forum is to
effectuate an urban campus plan that balances the needs of
the University, the City and its communities for harmonious
long-term compatibility and growth.
